Study smarter: build a learning plan that lasts

Start with the syllabus, not the bookshelf

Identify the topics you need to cover before selecting resources. Divide topics into familiar, weak and untouched areas. Use one reliable core source for each subject rather than collecting many resources that cover the same material.

Plan around active recall

A useful study block contains focused reading, closed-book recall and a small set of practice questions. For example, spend 35 minutes learning a topic, 10 minutes recalling its main points and 15 minutes answering questions. Adapt the durations to your concentration and schedule.

Make revision non-negotiable

Revisit new material the next day, after a week and later in the month. Maintain an error notebook that records why an answer went wrong: missing knowledge, misreading, calculation or an unsafe guess. Review this notebook before each practice session.

Use this guide as a starting point. Verify facts with authoritative sources and connect each point to your broader notes.
